What are Allergo-Comod drops?

The drug Allergo-Comod is eye drops, which are used during acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis.

The active substance of the preparation is sodium cromoglycate, a substance with anti-allergic effects. Sodium cromoglycate, by stabilizing mast cell membranes, inhibits the formation of allergic reactions in response to allergens. It inhibits mast cell degranulation, that is, it prevents the release of substances that are mediators of allergic reactions, such as histamine and leukotrienes, for example. The mechanism of action of sodium cromoglycate probably involves blocking calcium channels associated with receptors for immunoglobulin E, which inhibits the influx of calcium ions into the cell and the release of mediators. When administered as eye drops, sodium cromoglycate reduces symptoms of acute and chronic allergic conjunctivitis, such as swelling and itching of mucous membranes.

After topical administration into the conjunctival sac, sodium cromoglycate can only be minimally absorbed systemically and has virtually no systemic side effects.
