Security Warning
Treatment with tetryzoline should be discontinued if symptoms of inflammation worsen during treatment with the product. The product is intended for the treatment of only moderate conjunctival irritations. It is not recommended to use the product during infection, corneal damage or severe pain. The patient should discontinue the product and contact a doctor if there is no significant improvement after two days of use. Long-term use of the product may cause secondary irritation and hyperemia, burning and stinging symptoms, as well as atrophic changes, caused by chronic hypoxia of the eye mucosa. Caution should be exercised in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases (e.g. coronary artery disease) and hypertension, pheochromocytoma, in patients with diabetes and hyperthyroidism, treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors and other drugs that may increase blood pressure. Tetryzoline, when used in accordance with the recommended dosage, does not cause pupil dilation, but with excessive use there is a risk of pupil dilation, especially in patients with light (blue) iris. If you experience severe eye pain, headache, blurred vision, sudden moving spots in your vision, sudden redness of your eyes, light-induced pain or double vision, you should contact your doctor immediately. The product is not effective in the treatment of late-type allergic reactions, such as contact inflammation of the conjunctiva and skin of the eyelids. Avoid long-term use in children. The product contains 0.1 mg of benzalkonium chloride in each ml of solution. Benzalkonium chloride may be absorbed by soft contact lenses and discolor them. You should remove your contact lenses before using the drops and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back on. Due to limited data, there is no difference in the adverse event profile in children compared to adults.
Generally, however, children's eyes respond more strongly to stimuli than the eyes of adults. Irritation may impact treatment in children. Benzalkonium chloride has also been reported to cause eye irritation, dry eye symptoms, or may affect the tear film and corneal surface. Benzalkonium chloride should be used with caution in patients with dry eye syndrome or corneal damage. Patients receiving long-term treatment should be monitored.
