Apitussic - description and indications

Inflammation of the upper respiratory tract, cough.

Action

Apitussic is a syrup intended for children from 6 years of age and adults. It has an expectorant effect and loosens lingering secretions in the bronchial tree. It reduces the viscosity of mucus and facilitates its movement in the bronchi by stimulating the activity of the cilia of the tonsillar epithelium. Pine herb enhances the expectorant effect of the syrup.

Composition - what ingredients the drug Apitussic contains.

5 ml of Apitussic syrup contains 52 mg of sulfogvacol.

Excipients: sodium benzoate, pine herbal honey, purified water.

Dosage - how to use the drug Apitussic

Children over 6 years of age: 3 or 4 times a day 5 ml (1 teaspoon).

Older children and adolescents: 3 or 4 times a day 10 ml (2 teaspoons from tea)

Adults: 3 or 4 times a day 10 ml (1 tablespoon).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the medicinal product.

Avoid use in people with active peptic ulcer disease - the medicinal product may aggravate the condition.

Do not use in children under 6 years of age.

Notes and warnings about the drug Apitussic

This is a medication. For safety, use it according to the package insert. Do not exceed the maximum dose of the drug. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Side effects

No significant adverse reactions were observed.

There have been isolated cases of laxative effects.

There is a possibility of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Warnings and precautions

If the patient has previously been diagnosed with intolerance to certain sugars, the patient should contact the doctor before taking the drug. Patients with rare hereditary disorders related to fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrose-isomaltose deficiency should not take the drug product.

Patients who observe worrisome symptoms (e.g., laxative effects) after use should discontinue the medicinal product and contact their doctor.

Apitussic syrup contains pine herb honey. It should not be used in people who are allergic to bee products.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

Due to the unrecognized risk of toxic effects, the drug can be used during pregnancy and lactation only in consultation with a doctor.
