Composition in 100 g of the preparation :
camphor 10 g, hydrophilic vaseline 90 g. Action and indications : Camphor ointment causes local congestion. It is used externally on the skin for muscle and joint pain.
Contraindications : Do not use on damaged skin or around the face, especially around the nose and mucous membranes. Do not use in children under 6 years of age. Do not use in people who are hypersensitive to any of the ingredients of the drug.
Warnings and special precautions : Protect eyes. Do not use on large areas of the body.
Side effects : Irritation may occur, very rarely contact dermatitis. If side effects occur, stop using the drug.
Dosage : Externally apply a thin layer of ointment (1-2 cm) to the skin, lubricating painful areas 1-2 times a day.
Mechanism of action : Camphor (
Camphorum ) is a plant substance derived from the camphor tree (
Cinnamonum camphora ). It is one of the ingredients of camphor oil. Camphor is a sticky, white, transparent and crystalline mass with a very characteristic odor. The popular saying "disappear like camphor" comes from its ability to sublimate at room temperature, i.e. the ability to directly change from a solid to a gaseous state, bypassing the liquid state. The substance penetrates the skin very well,therefore, it is a popular ingredient of ointments with a warming and analgesic effect.
Camphor has anti-inflammatory, antifungal, cooling, slightly anesthetic, astringent, exfoliating, antiseptic and improves blood circulation. Please note
that camphor may cause allergies and local skin redness.
