Gargarin - description and indications
Gargarin is a compounded drug in the form of a powder for making a solution for gargle. The reason for reaching for Gargarin may be conditions such as inflammation of the throat or mouth. This drug forms five active substances that complement each other and exert a comprehensive therapeutic effect. Sodium tetraborate and sodium benzoate have bacteriostatic, fungistatic and disinfectant effects. Sodium bicarbonate enhances the secretion of the mucous glands of the respiratory tract, facilitates the dissolution of lingering mucous masses and has a local anti-inflammatory effect. Sodium chloride provides electrolyte balance and has weakly antiseptic properties. Menthol has a cooling, anesthetic and disinfectant effect
Indications: auxiliary in inflammation of the throat and mouth.
Composition - what ingredients the drug Gargarin contains
5 g of powder for preparing Gargarin g argle solution contains: borax 1.74 g, sodium bicarbonate 1.74 g, sodium chloride 0.75 g, sodium benzoate 0.75 g, levomenthol 0.02 g.
Action
Borax, a protoplasmic poison, has a disinfectant and weak bacteriostatic effect due to the peculiar property of the borate ion, which binds to the alcohol groups of pyridoxine and riboflavin, blocking their action as coenzymes in cells. Sodium chloride has an astringent effect, causes congestion of the mucous membrane and removes toxins. Sodium benzoate has a disinfectant effect and a weak bactericidal action. Levo-momenthol irritates the ends of cold-conducting sensory fibers, causes a sensation of cold on the skin. At the same time, there is a decrease in the sensitivity of the endings of pain-conducting sensory fibers. Thus, levomenthol has an anesthetic effect.
