Lactovirina contains lactoferrin and zinc.

Lactoferrin is a protein, or more precisely: a glycoprotein from the transferrin group, which means that it regulates the concentration of iron ions in the blood plasma and transports these ions to the tissues.

It is found as part of the innate immune system in mother's milk and in other body fluids such as tears, saliva, sweat, nasal, intestinal and vaginal secretions.

Zinc is a mineral with a broad spectrum of activities, including: it helps in the proper functioning of the immune system.
