Description
Composition and form: Each hard capsule contains pancreatin from pork pancreas with the activity of: lipase 8,000 units Ph. Eur.; amylase 5,750 units Ph. Eur.; proteases 450 units Ph. Euro. (1 Ph. Eur. unit = 1 FIP unit).
Indications: Treatment of digestive disorders in the course of exocrine pancreatic insufficiency in children, adolescents and adults, the occurrence of which is associated with the following or other diseases: cystic fibrosis (cystic fibrosis); chronic pancreatitis; condition after removal of the pancreas (pancreatectomy); condition after removal of the stomach (gastrectomy); pancreatic cancer; condition after gastrointestinal anastomosis (e.g. Billroth II gastroenterostomy); narrowing of the pancreatic duct or common bile duct (e.g. due to cancer); Shwachman-Diamond syndrome; condition after an attack of acute pancreatitis and the initiation of enteral or oral nutrition.

Ileocecal and large intestinal stenosis (fibrosing colonopathy) has been reported in patients with cystic fibrosis of the pancreas taking high doses of pancreatin-containing products.As a precautionary measure, any unusual abdominal symptoms or changes in existing symptoms should be investigated to exclude possible fibrosing colonopathy, especially if the patient is taking more than 10,000 units of Ph. Euro. lipase/kg body weight/day.
