Vitamin D participates in many processes occurring in the body. It helps in the proper functioning of the immune system and muscles. It facilitates the absorption of calcium and phosphorus from the digestive tract and maintains proper calcium levels in the blood. Helps maintain healthy bones and teeth. In people over 60 years of age, it helps reduce the risk of falls associated with postural instability and muscle weakness, which in this age group reduces the risk of bone fractures. The beneficial effect occurs when consuming 20 μg of vitamin D daily from all sources. There are many risk factors for bone fractures, and changing one of these factors may or may not have a beneficial effect.

Vitamin D is produced in the skin under the influence of UV radiation from the sun. In autumn and winter, due to insufficient sunlight, vitamin D is not produced. In the summer, supplementation may be recommended due to frequent stay indoors and the use of sunscreens, which reduce skin synthesis by up to 99%. The ability to synthesize vitamin D in the body decreases with age. In case of insufficient supply of vitamin D in the diet and limited skin synthesis, supplementation is recommended.

Vitamin D supplementation is recommended in Poland all year round (if adequate skin synthesis of vitamin D is not ensured in summer), and especially in the period from October to April.

The preparation can be used by people with diabetes.
